India Post has released the Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) Online Engagement Schedule-II, July 2026 notification for the recruitment of 23,757 candidates for Gramin Dak Sevak posts including Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) and Dak Sevak. The recruitment is being conducted by the Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications, Government of India.
Candidates who have passed Class 10th with Mathematics and English from a recognized board and meet the prescribed age and local-language requirements can apply online. The India Post GDS selection process does not involve a written examination; candidates are shortlisted through a system-generated merit list based mainly on their Class 10th marks.
The online registration process starts on 31 August 2026, while online applications and fee payment can be completed from 2 September 2026 to 21 September 2026. A correction window will be available from 23 September to 24 September 2026.

Merit List Preparation
India Post prepares a system-generated merit list.
Merit is based on the candidate's Class 10th marks.
Marks are calculated/converted according to the rules specified in the notification, with percentage calculated up to four decimal places.
Shortlisting
Candidates are shortlisted according to merit, available vacancies, category/reservation and the preferences submitted in the application.
Higher Class 10th marks generally provide a better chance of shortlisting.
Document Verification (DV)
Shortlisted candidates are called for physical document verification.
Candidates must produce their original certificates/documents along with the required copies.
Eligibility & Document Verification
The authorities verify educational qualification, age, category, local-language qualification and other eligibility conditions.
If the information/documents are incorrect or the candidate is found ineligible, the candidature can be cancelled.
Medical Examination
The provisionally shortlisted candidate must submit the prescribed medical certificate from the competent medical authority.
Provisional Engagement
After successful verification and completion of the required formalities, the candidate receives the provisional engagement offer.
The candidate then completes the joining/engagement formalities.
